i got up this morning, and made myself a sandwich before i left for the station
he wanted out
he kept going to the deck door or the kitchen door, meowing
and coming back to me with a question in his meow
he wanted out
and i wasnt abt to let him out, because i would be ready to bring him back inside before he wanted
(i don't let him outside when i'm not home)
so i was mean, and told him, no, you can't go out.

he's been doing real well, lately, abt not running out the door when i leave
today, he was at my feet as i headed to the door
under my feet, actually
meowing
looking up at me

he wanted out

so, i walked to the deck room, he's right at my feet
and i got out the carrier,
he walked right into it
and he went along to the station with me

this is his favorite place in the office
today, he hopped up there, while i had my back turned
-while i was in the middle of copying charts-
i had to remove him


and when we came home, no more grumpings to go outside

i headed up to the BR come bedtime
sat on the pot, turned the tub water to a trickle for him
he likes to lap the running water
i often play zuma on my phone, as i wait for him to finish
of course, then, i continue playing till i lose
and as i'm sitting on the pot playing zuma on my cell phone,
he is curled up abt 6 inches from my feet
with his head facing me
waiting for me to finish

and right now, he just jumped up on my back
he's kneading my back
pretty soon he'll lay down on my back
his butt against my ear
his tail down over my shoulder


in other news, krista got herself a very nice 8 pt this afternoon
michael got his yesterday, a 4 pt
both of them are quite happy
and i think dave is prouder of them and their buck than they are.
he played the teaching father very well, these past 2 days.

traditions

we made candy today, while the mighty hunters were out in the rain
had a few misshaps, of course

if i ever suggest making 2 batches of peanut butter cups, beth is going to yell at me
we made peanut butter cups till they were coming out our ears

my nephew was the only mighty hunter today
and beth says, his buck just stood there and said "shoot me"
first buck, 4 pt, one shot and down
he is thrilled to pieces
we've been teasing him abt having a black and blue shoulder
tis funny

its odd, seeing the next generation come along and enjoy the same traditions we had when we were kids
the candy making on the first day of deer season is a new tradition, brought by beth and joanna, tho
but the kids sure enjoy looking out the window watching the deer run across the pasture up thru the fields and past dave's shack, same as we used to.

ok, so today, well, yesterday by now, was certainly different than saturday
i felt like i reeked of smoke and burnt flesh all day today
no matter where i went, i smelled it
the ER assured me that was not so, so i took their word for it
but i still smelled it

and i went to harrisburg twice today, back to back
and before i got back, darryl was headed to harrisburg as well

i do believe that today has been the longest day at work in a long long time
it just took all day and then some to finally get to 11 am, then to 2 pm, then its not even 4 pm yet, and finally it was 6 20 and darryl will be here in abt 15 minutes.

snow

i was travelling up the mountain on my way home from church
i rounded the bend, and the whole mountain side was orange
it contrasted very nicely with the snow
yellow and orange leaves are still on some trees

i wasnt able to get a pic of it, but i did get a few pics on my camera phone, of the first snow fall for the season
yes, i was driving as i took the pics.

dinner

dinner today was quite the interesting affair

i stopped at klines to get a head of cabbage and some loose sausage
i wanted noodles and cabbage, i've grown to like that, and thot that sausage would be good in it
well, pauletta didnt have loose sausage, so i settled for 1/2 pound hamburger meat

came home, fried up the hamburger, dumped in some peppers n onions, and a variety of seasonings that i have in my cupboard
and found out that i didnt have noodles
i had angel hair spaghetti, and some huge round things, (rigatoni, maybe, i'd have to go look at the box)
decided that spaghetti would be more like noodles, so i dumped a pound in the water
don't ask me what possessed me to dump a pound in
started frying the cabbage
the spaghetti was done, so i took it off the burner, drained it, and set it on the stove
dumped in the meat mixture, stirred it together
and its starting to clump
and i can see that the cabbage i have wont be enough to separate it
oh pity, i didnt want spaghetti
but i pulled out a jar of spaghetti sauce, dumped it in, stirred it
and dumped the 2nd jar of spaghetti sauce into it
finished up the cabbage
stood there looking at it all
wasnt sure...
...
and then just dumped it into the sphaghetti
it cant be that bad,
after all, tomatoes and cabbage are in veggie soup, and cabbage and noodles are good together

it wasnt toooo bad
i wont be doing it again, tho

prob is, that pound of spaghetti noodles
i've now got about 8 meals in the frig,
i'll be tired of spaghetti and cabbage long before its eaten

i wanted enough noodles and cabbage with sausage for my dinner today, and maybe 2 more meals
that was the intent when i started making dinner
i wasnt intending on feeding myself for the entire wk.

28. dad cut down several annoying small trees around my place today

the funniest thing happened today
i had to laugh
dad wanted me to take him over to carlisle gap to pick up the skidder
so, i went to the door and called kc
kc just sat there, made no move to come in
(usually when i call him from the door, he comes running)
not this time, he refused to come in
so dad decides maybe if he goes outside, maybe that'll scare kc
well, it didnt scare kc, he just sat there watching
and after dad was over at his pickup, i called kc again
and he promptly comes running
that cat didnt want to come in while dad was here!

did a bunch of baking today
made a carrot cake with cream chz icing
i've never made cream chz icing before, and it turned out pretty good
and then i made choc chip cookies, only i used white choc chips, and i put nuts in
and then
i made raisin cookies

gave abt half of the raisin cookies to my neighbor
the others had nuts and that's a no no for her, just now
but the raisin cookies she said she could eat

now i've gotta figure out who to pawn the rest of the stuff onto
cause i certainly dont want it all myself
i certainly don't need it all myself
if you give me your address, i'll mail some cookies to you
don't think the cake would work so well.

i had clipped it to my key ring, because i was going to take him along to the station
but he wasnt interested in going to the station
his tail went up and the tip went back and forth furiously
and then he headed to the deck door and sat down and looked out
wouldnt even think of looking at me
so i left him at home

stopped at klines, then to the post office
and when i got to the station, i had the back of the pointer
but the pointer itself and the batteries had screwed off the back
so i dont know where it got to

4. pain control is a wonderful thing. it calms a person right down
